Why video marketing is critical for any business (Part 2)

Getting ranked on the first page of organic Google results has always been the quest for any online business. And getting the number one spot is kind of like finding the tower, killing the dragon, and saving the princess.

These days it becomes an even harder quest because Google is putting so much emphasis on video. The top three spots in the universal search results are almost always video (the first three below the advert at the top, if there is one). If you don’t have a video for the search keywords, your competitors probably do.

Studies have shown that upwards of 88% of business buying decisions are impacted by search engines. More than 80% of B2B buyers research online before ever contacting a vendor. For consumers that number is over 90%.

And the truth is that if you aren’t on the first page of Google (and/or possibly Bing), these researchers aren’t going to find you. That’s because 75% of people never look past page one of the search results.

While being on the first page is great, being in the top three is even better. And you usually need to have video to get there. According to Digital Brew, having a video on your website makes your page 53 times more likely to be on the first page, and since most video results are at the top – well,  you can see where that ends up.

Getting your video ranked highly by Google isn’t as simple as just posting your video to your website. In some ways, there is more work involved in getting a video ranked than plain text. But what you need to do is fairly simple, and much more simple than making the video in the first place.
